I have a mimosa dealbata in the garden, currently it is about the height of the house 30 feet approx. I love it and fortunately so do my neighbours. However in the last two years the spread of the tree is about 4 metres and causing a lot of shade and mingling with the apple tree.
I am looking to give this a hard cut back on the sides and maybe a bit off the top.!!
Has anyone done this to their mimosa.

You can hard prune Acacia but you are better to shape the tree and or remove side branches. Do it in May as any frosts seem to really affect regrowth I have found.
