Oops! Just bought a Prunus nipponica brilliant for£3 at the garden centre.Looking at the height it said 300cm.As I struggle with metric I remembered my Husband always says don't think a foot think 300 not realising he meant mm.! 300cm is nearly 10 feet.Not quite the neat shrub I imagined.Is there anyway to limit the height to a reasonable size? (Hate metric) Thank you.

I agree, for that price you might as well enjoy it while it's small then get rid of it when it gets too big.

Does it have a variety? Also how many stems coming out of the pot - if multiple stems you can grow it as a shrub and keep it below 3m/10ft by judicious pruning.
If it has a single stem it will want to grow as a tree - you might be able to keep the crown in check but the stem will grow into a tree trunk - but it's not going to grow at any great pace and you should have a few years of enjoyment out of it.

Not really - either keep it until it gets too big then take it out, or give it away, or exchange it for another plant where you bought it from, if they'll let you. Pruning must be carried out only from May to end of June to minimise the risk of silver leaf infection. This one's classed as a large shrub or a small tree.
