Hi all
I was given a bucket of lilies and other plants a few years ago. The lilies have flowered a few times so they're no bother. Another plant has grown but not flowered . . . until now. There is something starting to sprout. See attached photo. There are black spots on the leaves which ARE spots, not insects. My exceedingly clever gardener brother is unable to help so I'm wondering if anyone else has seen one of these or has got one. I can't wait to see what it is.
Thanks everyone

That sounds VERY interesting thank you. Now I'll google that to see what it will look like when it 'grows up'.
Cheers.

A terrestial orchid, maybe Northern Marsh Orchid. We have a number which self-seed in our garden.
