Unless you specified when you sold the house that you were taking specific plants they are part of what the new owner has bought and you are not able to remove them without their permission - sorry!

Hope the move goes well. Try to think of the removal cost as an investment in getting your belongings safely from one place to the other - it softens the blow! The other option is to rope in family and friends and hire a big van - and that can work out expensive and takes a lot more time.
Loading the van up is the biggest part and seems to take forever in comparison with unloading at the new house.
If you can, visit the new house beforehand and be clear where everything is to go and label boxes with the rooms that way you shouldn't need to move things once the removal men have left. Especially make sure that things are upstairs/downstairs where you want them.

Previous question
I had a man and (Luton) van outfit in 2012 when I moved my furniture into storage - cost me £400 for 5 hours work. Cost about the same last year when I transported furniture out of storage and 80 miles. Without the extra unloading/loading at the storage depot, I would expect it would still have been around £700 (more for a 'proper' firm with a 'proper' furniture van)
Get more than one quote - some companies have online calculators that let you work out what you have to move, so you get a much more accurate quote.
