TREE PEONY. I pruned a straggly branch on my 10 year old (approx) tree peony last year in February which I think is the correct time to do this and some new shoots sprouted lower down. My plan(!) was to prune one of the other branches this year but because husband had to go into hospital in February it didn't get done. Its covered in flowers at the moment but would it be OK to do it when flowers are finished or will that be too late?

Exactly the right time to prune, just after flowering has finished, if you could not do it in February. New growth will be a bit slower that's all.
