What would be the best poppies to plant in our garden on the west coast of Scotland. Have had no success with oriental poppies. Although they grow on they are too fragile for the wind and heavy rainfall we get here even in the summer. I love bright red poppies and am desperate to get some in our flower beds

I don't know any nurseries in Ayrshire but if you fancy a trip to Galloway then look up Elizabeth Macgregor's nursery in Kirkubright. She grows some wonderful plants.

Oh Massa, Ayrshire, wet and windy! You are perfectly suited for the Himalayan Blue Poppies, ie Mecanopsis. There are red and reddish ones but I would be looking at the blues.
