Thank you for your response but we grow Wilja,Maris Piper and Charlottes.I thought Charlottes were always waxy but our were not.

Then you are either boiling the Chalottes for too long or they are not Charlottes.

Elsie when you want to reply to someone who has answered your question do so under the original question this keeps the 'thread' together.

Charlotte is a 4 on the scale of waxy to floury with 1 being the waxiest and 9 the flouriest. When freshly dug from the soil potatoes need far less cooking time.

The other two varieties you are growing are considered to be floury - good for mashed potatoes.
