I.D Please.... just throwing this one out there, I call them undesirables(not weeds) I was eager to see what the heads develop into but admittedly I was disappointed, having just watched a piece on the black grass problem for farmers at the moment on country file I noticed the grass flower heads to be very similar, so im wondering what it is and is there any link to a grass.... many thankyou's p.

Plantago lanceolata, Ribwort Plantain. One of the commonest wild flowers in Britain.

Certainly an undesirable here, especially if they seed into the lawn.

Plantain leaves, if bruised, are as good if not better than dock leaves for soothing nettle stings. Works for me anyway.
