Hi all, I have noticed a little cuckoo spit on my Escallonia, is detrimental to the plant if so how should I treat it?

Not detrimental at all. Treat it as an interesting habit of the immature form of the Froghopper insect.

Ooh, thanks Treetop! I noticed some of the frothy spit on a Rosemary and a Lavender today ... the forecast heavy rain should wash it off.

Same here at 20.15 ... England v NZ cricket has just stopped due to rain in London so it's probably heading our way soon.

Just blast it off with a hose ... there will be a Froghopper nymph within the Cuckoo spit ... I don't think they cause any damage to plants.
