Yes, wait for them to turn brown and then just start splitting from the top. You can harvest them then and they are best sown immediately.

If you do nothing they will sow themselves in situ.

Not yet. The seed pods will dry off and turn brown to show that they are ripe. Keep an eye on them - you might miss the first one to pop but there are plenty there. Best way is to let nature take its course and scatter them for you.
