We have a Betula Roth Dalecarlica tree planted approx 2 metres from our house, could this be a problem in the future with regards to foundations of the house or the drains?

Hi, welcome to GoY, even though Betula are considered shallow rooted trees, they still go down quite a way, and they are large trees, so at 2 metres from your house, are far too close, I would suggest at least 25 - 30ft for you to see the tree at its best, Derek.

How old is the tree? I ask this because an older tree will be very difficult to move to a new location taking into account it's height, weight and the size of it's root ball. If you just planted it then there's no problem to move the tree.

We watched the roots of a Betula move paving slabs heading for the house......it was there when we moved in and had to go....special stumpwood chemical got rid of the roots

How do I say thanks?
