my tree peony is taking over my flower bed and definitely needs a prune. Is it ok to do it now and how do I do it?

You can prune a tree peony to keep it in order and stop it getting out of hand. You can also thin out the buds for better flowers. It is recommended that no more than 5-8 shoots be allowed to flower and this keeps the plant in order and produces better flowers too. If you want to study this further, I suggest you google it and check it out.
