Yesterday I found a tiny white bug on the lavender. About the size of a ladybird but rounder and with pincers which were gripping a bee. Later in the day the bee was half eaten and today completely gone. However the white bug is still there and obviously awaiting his next meal. There are no others and I wonder what it is?

I Googled it myself. (got interested). From what I can make out, it looks like you are right Seaburngirl.

Thank you both so much - it's still there. I'll read about it now it's been identified.

Its a spider. our local name of crab spider/ghost spider comes to mind.
Misumena vatia might be the one. google and have a look. it comes in a range of colours too.
