I have just dug up 6 large flower bulbs that came to nothing they are orange in colour and big don't remember planting them anybody have any idea what they are as therepp was only a couple of long leaves appeared when they died

Might be lilies? Do you mean the bulbs are orange? I would replant them and leave them - they might do better next year, but they would be more likely to flower next year if you had left the leaves to die down naturally before digging them up. If they produce just leaves next year leave them to it - they will be building up their food reserves in order to make flower buds for the following year. you can 't rush bulbs.. T hey should flower eventually.
