I have a plot that has the most wonderful display of daffs. and grape hyacinths in spring. yet everything I try for the rest of the year fails. Can you help please

Sorry, but am going to have to ask quite a lot of questions to get more information in order to make suggestions.
1.What have you tried so far?
2.Is the area in full sun, very shady, or part shade?
3. How large is the area, and are the daffodils full size, not dwarf varieties?
4. What's the soil like - heavy, or light and sandy?
