A couple of weeks ago, someone, I thought it was DianeB, (sorry if I'm wrong) said she had discovered a product to deter cats. I wrote it down on a piece of paper and subsequently confined it to the recycling box. Could you please remind me of the name of the product?. Many thanks, Jimmy.

Just looked up and Amazon states:
Chemical free & non toxic, contains natural garlic extract.
Suitable for use around children & pets.
Garlic is not going to deter any cat or dog and if it is suitable to use around pets I seriously question its ability to keep anything at bay!

You might want to try Rue (Ruta graveolens), with a little soap to spread it, and a little olive oil to keep it from washing off too soon. Works about 3 times out of four, in my experience.

Diane did say it was working for her though.

Garlic will certainly work as a systemic to keep insects away... cats, I seriously doubt it! They certainly aren't bothered by growing garlic which is a pungent as any spray!

I too checked it out and I also read the reviews, some said useless but others agreed it worked and would definitely recommend it, the only way we really know for sure is by trying it ourselves....

True Lincslass but if a company is marketing something that, basically doesn't work we need to know!

I agree Mg but one should not put something down without trying it out oneself, have you tried it out then? I haven't although I have tried others in the past, my pets are strange as something that is disliked by one seems to attract the others, guess they are like humans and have different likes and dislikes..Mine get shouted at and chased off and on occasion have even received a short sharp slap but of course one cannot go around slapping other peoples pets..

I've certainly used garlic spray as a way of deterring insects of vegetable plants spraying it as a systemic. Didn't have any effect on our cats though.

Mine are daft and are attracted to it, lol, the only thing they don't seem to like is tomato sauce but don't fancy that in my garden, however they do say that if put in a dogs dinner its good as will come out in their urine and then they will not go in the same place twice, I used it one year so my boys did change their place and it was one of my rather nice shrubs, I stopped using it as its cheaper to redo an area of grass...
