Miniature & Dwarf Daffodil Bulbs and Tulips.
I have a new border in the front garden (WELL DRAINED FULL SUN) , can be windy as well so I need proven varieties to stand up to the weather. i have tried Rip Van Winkle but always falls over.
Any proven varieties you have grown would be great and I will place a order asap in the next week.

Heavy winds or rain are going to damage or flatten Narcissi plants if they are directly exposed to it. As Feb-April are months most prone to gales or heavy showers, I'd plant Narcissi that flower from mid April when the worst of spring storms have passed. I'd plant N. Hawera and/or N. Canaliculatus. Both of these are miniatures that flower in the 2nd half of April right into mid May, and combine well with loads of other plants that flower in mid/late spring.

Hi thats great info choosing later varieties , they will be growing through bergenias which have doubled in size since I planted them in the spring and they should help them stand up to the weather better
thank you

Wind and rain may flatten the taller daffodil varieties but not the dwarf ones, we have in flower from early March until May. We grow lots of different varieties of species tulips and, because they are much shorter, they do well flowering from mid April to June.

Miniature daffs. Tete-a-Tete, Jetfire, Bulbocodium conspicuus, Minnow and February Gold though if it is really windy you may have to create some shelter for them. Tulips, suggest you stick with species copy and paste the link below to see a whole selection by Miniature Bulbs
