We have been given a bare root peach tree, any suggestions how to plant and look after it please.

I'd pot it up asap, soak the roots first in a bucket of water then keep in a sheltered spot in the garden out of the wind and direct sun, where you can give it loads of tlc......think of it as delicate and in need of looking after carefully ....hope it survives

The peach tree was given to us by our neighbour, she dug it up and passed it over the fence.

sorry to say its not worth re planting (my personnel view) , just the wrong time of year to move trees/shrubs in full leaf , if it would of been rootballed maybe but very doubtful even doing this. The leaves will just drop off in the next few days and look droopy. You are wasting your time ...
Pity they didnt leave till the autumn

But why not give it a go, you've nothing to lose.....put it in a pot and you can keep it shady and watered
we had to move a young plum that was in the wrong place......the JCB was heading its way!.....it survived in a pot for a year and was replanted properly in the autumn when it was dormant as Gnarly gnome says.....

where did you get it from as bare rooted are normally only bought and planted in Autumn or the latest end of March depending if we have a cold spring while they have no leaves on.
