I'm wanting something I can put in 400mm deep pots what will grow up to a height of 2000mm min to block my neighbours out I have a fence there so just wanting to soften the fence any ideas
But I don't want climbers

Bamboo - evergreen, so will provide a screen all year, won't get out of control in pots either. Have a look at Phyllostachys nigra or P. aureum - one has black stems, the other yellow, average height in the ground 13 feet, but won't get much past 7/8 feet (2430mm) in pots.

Very forgiving, will grow to 2 metres by the summer and provide fantastic scent.
Choose the medium sized varieties.
