Where is the best place outside for an olive tree and is it hardy?
Many thanks if someone knows

We grow olives commercially here in the desert, so think as hot, sunny, and dryish as you can manage. Fruiting is probably spotty, at best, in the UK.

Hardiness depends where you live - if you're in the south or west of the country, or within 10 miles of a coastline, likely it will survive well, especially in the ground. In the North and East, and in a pot, its at risk. Classed only as 'frost hardy', but in the right spot, often survives well. Needs to be planted in the sunniest, most sheltered spot available, and if that's close to an area of paving or a wall, that'll keep the plant warmer even in winter. Prefers well drained soil.
