If you could take another shot showing a close up view of the leaves, it might be possible to identify the plant - I've magnified your pic, but there's insufficient clarity once enlarged.

What's growing roundabout - next door or somewhere, that's a large shrub or tree - likely that's a contender, unless you once had something like it in the lawn and the roots are still live.

Possibly cherry but a better close up as suggested might help.
