Big pot , with trailing plants would look nice.
Or a big cushion on the top and make a nice seat.
Bird bath sound good as well

I like Gg suggestion, make a nice seat. My birds prefer their bath on ground level. It's easier for them to use.

Remember that, over the years, the trunk will rot. We have two in our garden at this height and have clematis alpina scrambling over them.

Yes! Was going to suggest clematis! But if you want evergreen, you could choose a lovely ivy...but you'd need to keep it well pruned. I have a beautiful yellow leaved one growing up an old plum tree which is now unproductive.

Might be as well to treat the stump with SBK - cherries tend to throw up suckers.

You can also grind it out completely, plant something else, or build a patio.

Thanks for your answers . I'll pass suggestions onto my friend

also bear in mind that the stump will have fungal decay over time and honey fungus if it is in your area will take hold. HF can be a major problem for other trees too.
we felled 2 15yrs ago and OH carved them into seats for the children. They are nearly ready to pull out due to decay.

I agree with Steragram, suckers could well be a problem.
