I have a very large low growing mystery plant which has reached about 4-5ft wide, now growing across my rose bush, with very large approx 1ft wide leaves It looks very similar to a marrow or courgette and has a yellow flower about 4" across and lots of buds. No fruit appearing yet and I wondered if it is too late in the season to expect any - if indeed this is a marrow/courgette!

Hope these pics help! Lots of compost has been dug in this spot, and the only solution I have come up with is that it could have contained courgette remnants. Didn't think courgette leaves were so big though!!

Looks like a courgette to me--that's how big the get planted outside in fertile soil. Up until now, most of the pictures that I have seen of courgettes from the UK have looked terribly depauperate. It may also be one of the smaller winter squashes--actually more likely, since it seems to be trailing vigorously, and courgettes are usually consumed before the seeds are mature.

Thanks, I'm grateful for your thoughts! Funny changeable weather here in Easex so taking pot luck to see if anything edible emerges this late in the season. I love my garden and have had a very good crop of raspberries, strawberries and blueberries, all in the back garden but the courgette mystery is against the front wall - covering it fast! I will report if anything exciting happens!
