I have had 2 beautiful salix babylonica's for the last 4 years. After the hard winter they started to grow again but in the space of 1 week the leaves turned brown and seem to die.I have trimmed them but they don't look too healthy.Any ideas what could have caused this and whether I should just take them down.

You may hopefully get a reply from member Tugbrethil. Not sure what is happening here as you may have certain pathogens in the USA that perhaps don't effect us over here.

Salix babylonica is not normally as susceptible to bacterial anthracnose as other members of the genus such as the equally large and weeping S. x chrysocoma that is used more often over here.
