if the tips of leaves on houseplants turn yellow/brown could that indicate too much / too little water or excessive heat ?

Answers

If the tips are yellow or brown and soggy, that indicates overwatering - crispy brown means either dry compost or hot, dry air. Sometimes can mean a plant's exposed to hot sunlight when it shouldn't be, depends on the plant.
