i am new to veg growing this year i tried potatoes and bean peas ect when digging up the spuds they were nearly all eaten away by slugs even the ones quite deep i hoed them up as i was told as any body got any idea why i seem to be infested with slugs i also noticed a lot of little black bugs in the soil were the spuds were when dug up. please can anybody help its no joke to throw nearly all your crop away

I think the slug damage os just unlucky. It may also be wireworm that are in the soil and just go for spuds. Not aure why...? Anyone else?
