something invisible is eating the leaves of my sunflowers, no sign of ants, aphids slugs wasps snails or any other critter. Please can someone give me a pet friendly solution. I have grown this crop from seed and treated them like babies, they are just about to start flowering and I would be devastated if I lost them now..

Depends on the kind of holes, but have to say the most likely culprit is slugs or snails, though really you should be seeing their trails. Might be worth going out with a torch at night to see if you can find anything on them.
