I have a comice pear tree that is now about 3 to 4 years old and it has never produced any fruit for me. I have nectarines, lemons, plum and guavas that grow without any problems. I live in Northern California. Earlier this year I saw a few blooms for the first time but still got no fruit.

Doyenne Du Comice is not self fertile so you will need another variety of pear to pollinate it. Onward, Pitmaston Duchess, Beth, Conference, Invincible (Delwinor) and Williams are all suitable.
The old saying, "Plant Pears for your heirs" is not true any longer as most are not grafted onto pear rootstocks but quince (Cydonia). 3-4 years is about normal before getting the first fruit.
