Do I need to prune/cutback Tradescantia plants in Autumn or Winter?

Unless you mean T.virginiana which is a hardy perennial and completely deciduous, so it will die down in winter and needs only the dead top growth removing at some point.

Or T. andersoniana varieties - they're hardy outdoors and you don't need to do anything, they die back on their own, you just need to remove the dead stuff later on, as Owdboggy says.
