Am I right in thinking you can trim the roots of roses (bareroot) i think I heard it in a magazine or gardening program

Nurseries trim the roots of field-lifted roses as a matter of course to pot them up as the roots would grow round in a circle when planted out.

We also recommend trimming off badly broken or shredded ends to reduce fungus infection.

when i have bought bare root plants i always trim the roots, even those in tubs and when i dig them up for moving.
