we have for first time grown cucumbers. some are ok some are long and thin. do we leave theses on or are they no good. thank you for your help

This is only true for some varieties, usually bred to grow in greenhouses for the gourmet trade.

I would try one and see before chucking it out. Just make sure that all male flowers if any produced are removed as this makes the fruit bitter (produced from the female flowers) if pollinated. Cucumbers are unusual in their family in being able to fruit without fertilisation and fertilisation is to be avoided as this changes the flavour of the fruit for the worse as said above.
