My friend bought be a pink hydrangea three years ago, and I planted it in the garden. For two years it did not flower at all. This Spring I surrounded the plant with ericaceous compost, and hey presto, it is covered in flowers this summer. Hope this helps.

Good Morning Everyone from MarianofHickling. Yesterday, I bought a white hydrangea in full bloom and I will be planting it today. I hope it will be alright but thank you Bertiefox for the above advice.

Hydrangea will grow in any well cultivated non-waterlogged soil, but the soil ph will affect the colour of the flowers: pink on limey soils, and blue on acid or neutral soils.
