Anybody know what all these strange new "members" are about, and whether anything can be done to stop them?

I know the ones you mean,Sue..appearing for the last week on the right hand side? I looked at the first one,and it was advertising..since then they are just constant, but the last time I looked,no message of any kind, they were just blank.so I just ignore them,as there are far too many to flag..

Not seeing any of that... There is an advert for the Trainline but that is all, odd!

I don't think you can stop people from signing up, they have to do something wrong before they are blocked! I can't see them unless I actually click on Members at the top.

Sorry Mg,should have said it's when you click on members..which I do,to see new blogs, photo's etc..no adverts otherwise ,as I use Ad block..

They never make any posts and often their profile is in something that looks like one of the Eastern European languages. They must have a reason for joining but I can't think what it could be.

One is written in Polish and when translated to English is concerning tumour treatment.
Another is somebody named Alex who is a mobile app developer from California and his avatar has been seen often in the new members list.
Not sure how they think Growsonyou will attract readers to their websites!

I saw some of these a few months ago, they seemed to be advertising some site campaigning for 'free viagra' and some other drug that I can't remember the name of, I flagged them, and they disappeared, but I think the bottom 1, with the photo' is one of the same people, so they might be trying to do the same again, if you click on them, and read their profile, it has nothing to do with the member, Derek.

Why worry, they aren't going to ever post a question... no-one is interested in them, they vanish of their own accord!

It sounds like someone has figured out how to program computers to "join" forums and write ads in the personal info. Welcome to the future--be sure to grip the chair arms tightly. :/

I don't see anything - possibly because I have an ad blocker installed...?

I just go to blogs or latest blogs......quick and easy

Rosierose, to see them you need to click on the Members tag as you do if you want to see the latest photos. New members are listed on the right hand side.
Adblock doesn't affect it because the new members column is part of the site.
