I done all that you have said as per instructions with the package, I was wondering if I should be adding any fertiliser by now. I put it in the ground early November.

Not essential to add chemical fertiliser, but lightly raking or forking in a couple of handfuls of Growmore granular fertiliser won't do any harm - if its still chilly where you are and no growth is showing yet, wait till end of the month. the most critical thing is making sure it has enough water - couple of gallons a week in dry conditions.

Well hopefully you dug the area over and incorporated some well rotted manure or good composted materials prior to planting. Other than that, and keeping it well watered during dry spells for its first two years, the only thing to do is to ensure nothing grows at the base of it for 12-18 inches all round, to give it a chance to establish without competition. If you didn't add humus rich material to the area, it's probably wise to mulch it instead, but don't let the mulch sit against the trunk or mainstem.
