My lawn is infested with Lawn Moths and is in a serious state of disrepair, how can I get rid of them, quickly and easily?

I live in Grantown on Spey, Highland, Scotland and the huge expanses of cultivated lawns in the area where I live, are currently (July 2014) overrun with lawn moths. I have encountered them previously, in many places I have lived across the UK, too, so so we definitely do have them in the UK.

Well I'm confused - as far as I'm aware, we don't have lawn moths in the UK. Do you mean crane flies and their larvae (leatherjackets)?
