hi everyone, I`ve inherited a garden with some plants that i have no clue what they are, i don`t want to pull anything up that will turn into something lovely!! any help will be appreciated

thanks Moon_growe, the garden is covered in slug pellets, it backs onto a large piece of overgrown wasteland, so i guess the previous owners had a big slug, snail problem although ive found no evidence of this.

Snag is unless they are the environmentally friendly ones they can kill other things too. We only ever use in the greenhouse

You can hide the pellets under a nearby stone and the slugs will go underneath for them.
I wonder if the second pic is a different kind of poppy?
Doesn't look like a common weed anyway.

Yes, both poppies - the second one looks like P. somniferum, the first one P. rhoeas.

thanks for all the replies, i do like poppies so thats a bonus. and i`ll try and sort out the pellet problem. Ive only been here a fortnight and am a novice when it comes to gardening.

I was thinking Iceland Poppy (P. nudicaule) for the first pic.

Top one looks like a Papaver, poppy, you'll need to wait until it flowers to know which one. Bottom one not sure but there seem to be an awful lot of slug pellets around it.
