I would like a shrub to replace the prunus that was in my garden. So a spring flowering shrub with a bit of interest in autumn (or winter).... The site is fairly sunny.

Depending on the space yoy have what about an acer if it's sheltered, colourful buds in spring and lovely bright different coloured leaves in Autumn ready to drop for the winter, or alternatively what about a nice magnolia for its lovely spring flowers?

Or a Pieris - evergreen and lovely red leaves in spring. It flowers too but not spectacularly.
