I have a central flowerbed in the garden which has a hydrangea growing in it. I have tried growing other shrubs around it unsuccessfully. Can anyone advise me of some small plants I can grow around the edge of the circular bed -the bed is in full sun.

How big is the hydrangea in terms of spread, or how long has it been in the bed? Which variety of Hydrangea is it?
