Is it necessary to thin out beetroot? I have sown some seeds in individual trays and others I just sprinkled them in the soil. The ones in the soil look a little congested. If I do thin them can I replant the ones I take out. Many thanks

Beetroot doesn't like root disturbance, so snip off the seedlings you don't want. Replanted beets are unlikely to grow, so no point in easing them out of the soil and disturbing the rest.
Beetroot seeds are not just one seed, by the way - each 'seed' is formed from several seeds, so you should snip out all of the shoots except one.

Rosierose if I just snip them out will the roots carry on growing? Or do I take the root out also?

Cut them off at ground level with a pair of scissors, to avoid disturbing those you want to keep. They won't regrow.

you need to thin them out. I use the thinnings in salads.
