You might keep one going for up to a year, but no,they don't come every year, although, as Arbuthnot says, they do sometimes seed themselves.

Sometimes. If you dead head them they will bloom for longer but if you let them seed the new plants are often (not always) a bit feeble. It's better to collect the seeds and sow your own.
