Big, reddish/brownish bug/fly insects attacking my strawberries and tomatoes! There are swarms when I get close. My strawberries have been decimated by the slugs and now this! What are they and how can I treat my poor plants? Thanks in advance!

The pictures are too distant and fuzzy to tell very well, but they are the right size, shape, and color to be tomato aphids. If so, they can be treated with a thorough spray of organic soap solution, followed a few hours later, by a good washing with a strong spray of water. Often, the water alone can keep them under control, if done weekly.
