I am considering growing lettuce in my garden yet (maybe I've been watching to many films...I dunno!) I'm worrowd that this will attract slug-which will eat my lettuce. Is there anyway I can repell insects and slugs to stop them feasting on my lettuce....a way that wont harm my plants? A "natural remedy" would be ideal.

There are organic kinds of the pellets, based on iron phosphate, with yeast flavor to attract the slugs away from your crops.

The lettuce won't attract slugs to your garden, but they will attract the ones you already have! Sprinkle the pellets sparingly round the plants and renew them after rain.
Slugs like somewhere to shelter during the day so also put down a plank of wood or one of two large flat stones and put a few pellets underneath. You can remove the dead slugs in the morning.

Also. I dont think I currently have slugs in my garden so according to your info I probably wont attract any....but I'll get the pellets to be on the safe side. :)

Always good to have for a rainy day--literally! :)

Unless you're planning to grow enough to feed an army, a couple of large pots would probably be better than growing them in the ground. It's easy to band pots with copper tape, as we do, to keep the slugs at bay. We use the 'frilly' stuff, which deters snails as well as slugs.

And if you do buy pellets as well there's no need to send for them - they are easily obtainable for garden centres, some DIY shops, many supermarkets, Wilkos etc.

You can use slug bait/pellets. They usually work very well. Keep you lettuce plants weed free, well watered & plant a lot of them. Lettuce grows very quickly - quicker then the slugs can eat them. Harvest frequently - daily.
