Why is my winter flowering cherry which was planted 13 years ago in our patio dying?. Some branches are obviously dead and the leaves are falling off mid summer on other branches and the leaves are showing holes but no obvious infestation. In addition the bark of the tree is splitting in places.

Splitting of the bark is usually followed by oozing gum which would suggest bacterial canker marks the decline of prunus varieties.

« Hi, can anyone identify this plant for me please? Many thanks.
Here in the States, I would say that it has borers, but I understand that those are rare in the UK. Canker might be the problem. Any chance of a picture?
