existing lawn treated with fertilizer, grass unfortunately has turned brown (75%) - obviously ive miss read the instructions, do I have to leave it now or what.
Alternatively can new lawn pieces be bought & placed over the existing lawn ?

Been there, done that. It will recover in time and meanwhile seeing it every day will remind you to spread it more evenly next time!

I would leave for now, scarify and then re seed in September and hopefully all this rain we have had will wash out what you have put on.... I think we have all done this at some time ADD A BIT XTRA.
