I have finally managed to grow a colocasia in a pot and, thinking ahead, wonder whether I should bring it indoors for the winter, or will it die down anyway?

Depends on which variety you have. Some can be grown indoors over winter as house plants, others go dormant until spring. They need to be protected from hard freeze or too much water.
