I've just bought a Heuchera Black Beauty. The label has a symbol of a flower crossed out, which I assumed meant it wouldn't flower. I bought it because the foliage is absolutely beautiful, and I would prefer it not to flower. However, the man in the garden centre told me that all Heucheras flower, so now I'm in some doubt as to whether to plant it in the spot I originally had in mind, as there may not be too much room for the tall flowers, although plenty for the foliage. Would it affect the plant at all if I simply remove the flower stems as they appear? Or should I simply plant it somewhere else that has room for them?

I find their flowers mediocre and do not detract at all from the foliage. I leave them on. My variety of heuchera is "plum pudding"

The flowering stems are really thin and the flowers on top take up hardly any room, but it won't hurt if you want to remove them.

I cut the flowering stems and add them to a vase of flowers ... they last about a week in water.

Thanks everyone, that's reassuring.

« Hi all can you please identify this shrub for me. Many thanks.
Lots of people cut the flowers off. It doesn't do any harm apart from deny pollinators a meal.
