Houseplant. I'm not a great houseplant lover. I usually lose interest once they start collecting dust! But I found this one in a GC a while ago and really love it. It didn't have a label on when I bought it. To me, it looks like some sort of a Begonia. Does anyone have any idea what it is please? I LOVE the colours and the way the veins look like stars on each leaf! :)

I've been googling 'rhizomatous begonias'...wow there are some beauties! I think they could become addictive like Heucheras If I'm not careful! The closest one to mine I can find is called 'Cleopatra'.

Careful Karen, addictions start small...

Thanks Derek...its very like that. But mine has a lot of chartreuse patches on its leaves, which for some reason don't show up on my photos.

Hi Karen, I think you're right, it just looked a bit too tall for 'cleopatra' it's only supposed to get to 8", and with the close up, it's not 'bethlehem star', sorry, Derek.

Thats alright Derek....lovely of you to try to find it. :)

Yes it is a begonia and it has got to be one of the most tolerant ones! It does tend to straggle a bit as it gets bigger but its easy to chop bits off when necessary. So good tempered it will go for ages without watering if you forget it.
