I have a Passion flower (unsure of the name, but the most common one) that is laden with orange fruits are these edible.

They taste fine though, quite pleasant, but nothing special - eat, as MG says, only when they're completely orange and fully ripe, not yellow.
Passiflora edulis produces what are sold as passion fruit, but they look completely different from the fruits that P. caerulea (which is what we grow here for its flowers) produces.

Had one of these in my house 2 moves ago. Estate Agent was from I think South Africa and everytime him showed someone around he always ate the fruit from my passion plant. He was fine.

They are edible when fully ripe but apparently don't have the same taste as a shop bought passion fruit.
