hallo all. has anybody tried using honey instead of rooting powder....and if so what were the results....thanks for any answers....from a very hot day in wuppertal

I haven't tried either, mostly because getting hold of 'raw' unprocessed honey isn't easy, unless you know a beekeeper. Cinnamon powder is said to work too, haven't tried that either. The trouble is, if you got roots using any substance, including root hormone preparation, you never really know whether the cuttings would just have rooted on their own anyway, not using anything at all. I did use hormone rooting powder when taking lots of cuttings of woody shrubs some years ago, and out of 38 cuttings taken (2 or 3 of each plant), only one failed, but that may have been more to do with the perfect conditions at the time and an element of luck.

No sorry I haven't and to be honest I cant remember when I used Rooting powder.
