Love this plant(being a fly fisher) but was unsuccessful because it's not in my growing zone(though close). It's zone is 7-9. Is is grown from seed and once established, sends its roots down deep so a foot of topsoil with hard clay or shale beneath is not too good for this plant.

Yes, it has corms. Ours are self positioned a good six inches down.
